Allan St John Holt Award

New Forest District Council have been commended at the south coast branch of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) annual apprentices' competition for the 'Allan St John Holt Award'.

In a presentation on the 14 June 2018 the four apprentices, Fran Baker, Tom Shorey, Joe Carruthers and Lewis Sargent, who work at the New Forest District Council in Streetscene, HR, and Accountancy, were awarded their certificates and trophies by Nick Burchell, Chairman of IOSH South Coast Branch.

Cllr Barry Rickman, Leader, said, "We support the apprenticeship scheme by providing hands-on experience to enable people to learn skills that employers want, and to gain qualifications.

"I am proud to say that the apprentices' efforts to standardise the provision of personal protective equipment across NFDC's workforce and the development and introduction of a health and safety handbook for all new staff offering advice, support and guidance, led them to be commended at this year's awards."

We have had 35 apprentices since 2010, and seven have gone on to secure permanent jobs here.
